WORLD CITIZEN AWARD
FOR A FORGOTTEN HERO
OF OUR TIME

Within the next three weeks the Association of World Citizens will present Colonel Stanislav Petrov with a special World Citizen Award. Petrov is credited by many experts in the field of nuclear weapons and policy as possibly averting nuclear war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union through his dramatic action in September of 1983. The was a period of extreme tension between the two countries.

Our Russian Branch in Moscow will make the award presentation. For the dramatic story and heroic action of Stanislav Petrov, read the article "Global Disaster Averted by a Forgotten Hero of Our Time" by Douglas Mattern in the Recent Articles page on this website.

In addition to the award, we want to present Petrov with a financial award as he lives on a meager pension in a small town near Moscow. If you would like to contribute to this award, send your donation to:

Association of World Citizens
