3. I just received word from the producer of the movie on Stanislav Petrov that they are coming with the movie, and with Petrov, to the U.S. in November. AWC will arrange Petrov's engagements and interviews. This is a very big development for the Petrov movie and for AWC. We may reenact the World Citizen Award to Petrov

4. The feedback from participants at our peace conference at the University of San Francisco August 2-5 is very positive and highly favorable. I will have a report on the conference on our website www.worldcitizens.org as soon as I receive some photographs from Taiwan and emailed copies of the speeches. The progressive think tank project approved at the last session of our conference is receiving much interest

5. AWC will participate in this year's "Concerts for World Peace and Peace Poetry Contest." This features a performance by our Ambassador of Music, Eddie Gale. The concert will be held at the new Martin Luther King Jr. Library in San Jose (corner of 4th and San Fernando Street in downtown San Jose). I will give a short talk and then give Eddie a World Citizen Award for his contributions to our cause. The program is on September 24 and begins at 11:30 am. This is a beautiful new library honoring Dr. King.

6. We have new AWC branches developing in Spain, South Africa. Lebanon, and Kyrgyzstan. We also have some requests to organize branches in states (New York and Texas so far), but I am not sure about this.

6. We received the following messages for our San Francisco Peace Conference from Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Lee.

1.

Dear Mr. Mattern,

Thank you for your kind invitation to attend the Peace Conference of the Association of World Citizens. I am honored by your request, and regret that I was unable to join you due to a prior commitment.

The conference is sure to have initiated much vital discourse, considering the Association of World Citizens' promotion of peace and democracy, and its concern with pressing world issues. I hope that you had an informative and enjoyable afternoon. Please continue in your efforts to instill a sense of responsible citizenship for one and all.
Sincerely,

Nancy Pelosi
Democratic Leader

2.

Dear Mr. Mattern,

Thank you very much for inviting me to ring the Bell of Peace at your international peace conference on Tuesday, August 2nd. Unfortunately, my schedule prevents me from joining you at this time.

Though I will be unable to attend, I would like to take this opportunity to commend the Association of World Citizens for holding this conference. It heartens me to see your organization's ongoing commitment to international peace and justice, and I salute you for your efforts in that area.

I appreciate your thinking of me on this occasion and I hope that your event will be a success. Please feel free to contact me in the future if I may be of any assistance.

Sincerely,

Barbara Lee
Member of Congress
